Just Relaxin

Here are some examples of how Chester likes to relax. These are not staged by us... this is just how we find him!

1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

We had a great visit with Leslie Boyd and her children yesterday. They came for the afternoon to visit and play. We decided we had to take a picture since our kids were ages 1-5 right now. For five young children, the picture actually turned out really great.

Oops

Yep, it's true. I broke my ankle. Figured it was the thing to do around here, since two other people have already broken their ankles in our church. This way I can truly empathize with them in their pain and suffering. Oh, the lengths I will go to have a ministry to our members. Er.... something like that.

So, it was Saturday night and there was a blizzard going on outside. I was coming down the stairs with my hands full of stuff (because, as a Mom I can't seem to go up or down the stairs without carrying anything that needs to go up or down) and I was sooo enamored with looking out the window at the snow that I missed that last step. I have done that before and managed to catch myself but there was stuff in my hands and I guess I couldn't catch myself at all and just fell on my ankle really badly. After lying on the floor for a while and realizing that I was not, in fact, going to die, I got up and limped around. Instead of heading out in the snowstorm, I prescribed ice, Tylenol and rest.

Monday morning x-rays at the doctor's clinic revealed a chip fracture at the bottom of the fibula bone in my leg. So now I get to wear this beautiful boot on my leg for 4-6 weeks. Yeeha!

Christmas Lights

We went with a simpler theme for our Christmas decorations this year. The goal was to remind people of the reason for the holiday.

Time to get a new couch?

Our couch has gotten very lumpy lately... and it makes strange noises, especially when you sit on it. Any ideas for what to do about it?

Sharing with Chester

Abigail was playing Let's Go Fishin' and Chester plopped down to watch. He didn't touch anything, just wanted to be near - that's how he is. And so Abby shared her fish with him. How nice.

Black Friday Shopping

Well, we went shopping on Black Friday and it was dark outside. But it was 7 PM and it was more of a - we've been on the road for over and hour and we have two hours left to go, look there's a store, let's stop - kind of thing than an intentional shopping trip. :)

We had been talking about getting an artificial Christmas tree this year because we're tired of spending money on a tree every year and dealing with the mess. When we saw the Menards store, we decided to stretch our legs and see what they had. We ended up buying one, as they did have some good sales still going on.

But first, a cute picture of Abigail.

We Are Thankful

Thank you once again to our church for their annual Thanksgiving food shower for us! We greatly appreciate the food. Not pictured is lots of meat in the freezer, gift cards, and cash.

And Chester enjoyed the "gifts" too in his own way. :)

Storm Chasers?

Well, our (not-so) beloved local baseball team just changed it's name. The Omaha Royals are getting a new stadium this season...and why not a new mascot? Kind of a silly one, if you ask me.

All I Want for Christmas...

Here is Audrey's Christmas list:

1. More Barbie stuff
2. Barbies
3. Box (You know, like great big appliance boxes that kids can play in)

She asked me to put this on the blog so everyone would know what she wants for Christmas.

Playing Together

Audrey wanted to play Wii and, naturally, so did little sister. She has to keep up you know. We set them up playing MarioKart and I think I had just as much fun watching them as they did playing. It took Abby a little bit to figure out which screen to look at and how to hold down the button to go. She thought she won every game - it was hilarious! She would celebrate and then say, "Let's do it again!"

When did they get so big?

Care for a bite?

Our neighbor Bob brought the girls suckers from after Halloween candy sales. Um... it must've been REALLY cheap candy. I mean, see the spider in it?! Ew! I wouldn't eat that stuff.

Didn't seem to bother the girls much.

Drawing Pictures

This is a pretty typical example of a picture that Abigail will draw. She says this is a dinosaur.

Being 2

All ready for church, Abigail proclaimed, "I'm the most beautiful princess in the whole world!" and twirled around all ladylike.

And . . . then she rode the stuffed cow around the house. :)

Haircut

Audrey really wanted her hair cut shorter. She has zero pain tolerance and she complained that her head hurt every time I brushed her hair. So...it was cut and it's cute and she loves it and it's easy to brush because it's too short to tangle much.

Homecoming 2010

As the queen crown bearer for homecoming, Audrey got to ride in a convertible during the parade. She started practicing her wave at breakfast. :)

She's the little one in the middle with the black mask on. Her whole kindergarten class dressed up as The Incredibles complete with black masks. Kolby, the little boy, is sitting right behind her in the picture.

She wanted to dress super pretty for this special ocassion. (Yes, she did wear shoes to the game.)

We even did her hair. Thanks Aunt Kristina for the pretty head doohicky!

Homecoming Part 2

Kolby (the king crown bearer) and Audrey sitting together in the bleachers during the first half of the game.

Here's the little pillow and queen tiara. She was excited to carry it.

They got to ride in the car again out onto the field.
